Checking out new bands is something that I really
enjoy, putting a cd on for the first time with that
open mind just wondering what is going to come out
of your speakers, by the time you are a few songs
into an album your mind is made up and you know
if you are going to like or dislike the album, on
a few rare occasions you might like the first few
songs and think you are going to like the album
and then by the album has finished your mind has
totally changed and you totally dislike the album,
but nothing can beat the feeling of listening to
a new band for the first time and totally loving
everything about it, this doesn’t happen often
enough but when it does it’s worth the wait
and it looks like I am in for a total treat today,
not only did I fall in love with the sound of a
band called The Why Not? I am now loving Less Than
Me and their debut album 'Crawl Walk Party'.
Less Then Me are a five piece band from Plymouth,
a town where they have built up a very big loyal
fan base that is bound to support the band all
the way to the end. 'Crawl Walk Party' is the
bands debut album which has 10 very listenable
tracks.
The album starts off with 'Turn To Dust', it’s
the kind of song you can get your groove on to
and it’s really upbeat and a really strong
sounding melodic rock song that has a powerful
set of vocals from front man Martin Crocker, the
song is bound to leave you jumping around or even
just tapping your foot up and down to the strong
beat the song packs.
The opening bass line of 'Camera Shy' has the
new era Red Hot Chilli Peppers electronic feel
about it, it’s extremely bouncy and very
catchy and once again Martin Crocker's powerful
vocals adds even more groove to the song, the
riffs are big sounding and very memorable, you
won’t forget the hooks and harmonies here
in a hurry.
Every song on the album is strong sounding, and
they all have a wide mixture of sounds, like 'Camera
Shy' is really electronic sounding and has some
big bouncy outstanding sounding bass lines, 'Out
Of Love' is quite laid back sounding, 'Without
You' is really rocky sounding with some thumping
riffs, and 'Streamlined And Openwide' is a near
on acoustic track, well it starts off acoustic
but builds up in sound towards the end, all of
these songs sound totally different from each
other but sound huge and impressive in their own
way.
On 'Crawl Walk Part', Less Than Me have captured
a lot of power and energy, you can certainly tell
that they are passionate about their music and
that they do everything to the best of their abilities,
these guys are fun and talented, check them out.
