Jet Pilot -Yeah, We Do Dance To Architecture!Jet Pilot -Yeah, We Do Dance To Architecture!

Jet Pilot are a three piece electronic-hardcore band from Germany, they are influenced by many different bands from many different genres hence the reason why they have such a mixed sound. The weird thing about these guys is that they are attempting to do hardcore music without the guitars, instead they have two bass players, two vocalists, one drummer and a keyboardist, yeah I did say they are a three piece band and all the instruments I have listed makes them sound like they have something like 6 members, but this isn’t the case as they take on a few instruments each well apart from the drummer of course.

Now Jet Pilot have a sound that I like but at the same time I don’t like, they are a cross between the electronics of Mindless Self Indulgence and My Passion and the vocals of The Blood Brothers, all bands that I really enjoy, but the mixture together is a bit too much on some songs here, it’s like they have crammed in as much explosive sound as possible which to me is instant headache material, I am really open minded when it comes to music and I like a wide variety of bands but Jet Pilot are a band that I dislike more than I like.

Their new album 'Yeah, We Do Dance To Architecture!', is 15 tracks long and sounds like a wide mixture of things that I have heard before but mixed together for an all over hectic sound, now to start with, it is quite pleasing on the ear, it’s good to hear the crazy mixture of synths and strong screaming Johnny Whitney style vocals but by the time the heavy distortion of the outro of the first song kicks in you realise this could be a long ride and that it is, all the songs on the album sound quite samey, you could go away make a coffee come back 10 minutes later and still think you are listening to the same song, but don’t get me wrong there are some enjoyable moments, it’s just a massive chore trying to find them.

I am sure some fans of Mindless Self Indulgence, My Passion and The Blood Brothers will find this album quite enjoyable but at the same time a lot of people will think that Jet Pilot are ripping off everything these bands have achieved and it could well turn into a heated debate as Jet Pilot formed back in 2003, which is well before any of these bands become super big.
