The Reluctant Heroes are a band who formed when
they were at school back in 1999 and to be fair,
not much has happened with these guys since then,
well until now, they have been together for the
best part of 9 years and they have now just finished
their first album which is due for release sometime
in 2009 and in the meantime they have decided to
release a single called 'One Time Bomb' which is
the first track to be taken from their forthcoming
debut album.
'One Time Bomb' starts off sounding like a very
average song from an average band that has high
hopes but doesn't have the music to back the hopes
up and then suddenly something extremely special
happens as the song approaches the 1 minute mark,
it explodes into such a catchy chorus, so catchy
that you will not be shaking the words of this
song out of your head for weeks to come, the song
is rocky, it has its punk moments and it's sure
going to have you throwing your fists in the air
whilst you chant along to the ever so catchy chorus.
The B-side 'Scratches' on the other hand sounds
like the band pressed record in the studio but
went and played the song a few rooms away from
the studio, either that or I have received a bad
copy of the single, but you have to turn the song
up extremely loud to actually make out what is
going on, anyway from what I can make out from
it, the song is actually quite good and Jonno
Spiers vocals seem to be a lot more rawer and
gruff sounding with some big guitar riffs and
fast drumming on show.
The Reluctant Heroes have a really good sound
that mixes straight up rock with a bit of a punk
rock edge, their sound is pretty big and they
have a lot of style to go along with it, it will
be interesting to see what these guys have managed
to achieve once they unleash their debut album
on us.
