These guys enjoyed success earlier in the year when
their debut single 'Live Or Die' reached number
27 in the UK indie chart which is some achievement
for a new band that hasn't really broken out of
their home city of Birmingham yet, seriously check
out the bands gig listings and you won't find many
shows that far out of Birmingham apart from a show
in Liverpool.
I quite like these guys, they are a true rock
band, they don't care about scenes or image, they
wear whatever they want to wear which means you
will never catch these guys all dressed the same
on stage like most bands do these days who take
about 4 hours to get ready before each and every
show, the best thing about this band is their
sound, it's straight forward rock and roll and
it's done in such a powerful manner, just check
out the latest single 'Don't Say Goodbye' for
living proof.
'Don't Say Goodbye' has a massive sound about
it and is so much better than the bands debut
single 'Live Or Die' which to me shows that the
future is really bright for Long Day Gone. 'Don't
Say Goodbye' starts off pretty mellow with frontman
Neil Davies singing "I should of known better,
I should of known right from wrong", with
constant drum beats and twangy guitar riffs kicking
off in the background, the song builds up until
it reaches a really big rocking high with guitar
riffs aplenty and Neil Davies singing his heart
out.
The B-side to the single is 'We Are' which shows
the mellower side of these guys, everything is
so much more toned down which gives frontman Neil
Davies nearly 5 minutes to shine as his vocals
rock out helping bring a big sound to what started
off as such a mellow song.
Long Day Gone are another promising band from
Birmingham, they have proved that they can create
good songs, they have also proved that they have
a big following in their home city of Birmingham,
they now need to carry on creating good songs
as well as head out on the road for a nation wide
tour to start clocking up a big fan base nation
wide, I am sure we will be hearing a lot more
from these guys in 2009.
