The Holy Mountain are a four piece band from Tampa, Florida that formed
back in 2003 and 'Enemies' is the bands new 6 track ep which also includes
5 extra tracks, 3 of which from the bands 7" ep release called 'Wrath'
and 2 live tracks which were recorded back in November 2005.
From looking at the ep cover and ep name I expected this band to be heavy
and brutal. And my guess was spot on the Holy Mountain are a hardcore
punk rock band that sound brutal musically and vocally.
The opening track 'Manufacturing Political Leverage' is heavy from start
to finish. Dan’s vocals are hardcore and raw and the drums are blistering
which is good. However, after you have heard a few tracks from this ep
you realise they all sound to similar and there’s no variety in
this bands music. Even the bonus live tracks do nothing for me.
Overall the cd is ok but it lacks in variety and Holy Mountain is definitely
a band you would experience better live in the mosh pit rather than on
cd.
2/5
