Pretty much everyone should of come across a Mogwai
track in their time, even if they don’t know
it, the band have released 5 full length albums
with their 6th full length album 'The Hawk Is Howling'
being released in the middle of September, the band
have also had so many of their songs featured on
many different films, TV shows and computer games
and this will be the place you have come across
a Mogwai song without realising it.
Mogwai are well known for their atmospheric sounds,
and this is why their music has been featured
on so many films, as their music has the perfect
feel for certain situations in movies, for example
if you were watching a horror movie with the killer
chasing some innocent victim then a piece of Mogwai
music would perfectly fit the scene as most of
their music is big, bold and atmospheric.
The new Mogwai single is 'Batcat', it runs for
over 5 minutes and is such a interesting listen,
the whole feel of the song is quite echoey, with
really distorted guitar sounds firing off every
now and again, the song sticks to the same formula
that Mogwai have always stuck to, they know what
they want their music to sound like and they know
how to get great results and 'Batcat' is one of
those great results. The video for 'Batcat' is
just as good as the actual song with the way that
it’s dark and has a horror theme running
through it.
Mogwai are still as good as they ever was, this
is their comeback single but to be honest they
haven’t really ever left the music scene
as when they aren’t busy making new albums
they are busy playing shows or contributing to
the next big film soundtrack.
