I reviewed the single “Rollercoaster”
not long ago with a whopping 4.5/5, and when I picked
up this album, recognising the band's name, I was
surprised to say I couldn't remember anything about
the song. However, after listening again, and indeed
to the whole album, I haven't changed my mind. The
song is brilliant, and the album is awesome. Dorp
excite me. Dorp excite me a lot.
To put Dorp in a single genre would be impossible.
They're a slightly electro/indie take on a dark
alternative rock group, with vocals that wouldn't
find themselves out of place on a NIN record.
Quite a variety, but a variety that works oh so
well. And even trying to talk about tracks that
stand out would take a year, as every single one
officially rocks my socks. But what the hell,
I'll give two thumbs fresh to “Rollercoaster,”
“Cops & Robbers” and “Extreme.”
That said, despite their brilliance, they would
never really get anywhere in the charts. But then
again, who gives a fuck about the charts. The
Killers are a chart band. Nuff said. These guys
are just a breath of fresh air, and excellent.
5/5
