I have been keeping a close eye on Johnny Foreigner
ever since they released their single 'Arcs Across
The City' many months ago, the band have since gone
on to release the ever so catchy 'Our Bipolar Friends'
single and their debut album 'Waited Up Till It
Was Light' and also spending as much time as possible
playing shows all over the UK and any other country
that they can get their claws into, including shows
at Tokyo's Supersonic festival and upcoming appearances
at everyone’s favourite summer festival, the
Reading and Leeds festivals which take place across
August bank holiday weekend.
Johnny Foreigner will be heading out for a headline
tour with label mates Danananananaykroyd in September
just after the release of their new single 'Salt,
Peppa And Spinderella', which happens to be the
first single release from Johnny Foreigner since
the release of their debut album 'Waited Up Till
It Was Light'.
'Salt, Peppa And Spinderella' is such a pleasing
track and is one of my favourite tracks from the
band, the song starts off with fast drum beats
and it’s not long before Alexei and Kelly’s
uniquely different vocals come in one after the
other, the drums carry on beating faster and louder
as time goes on sounding like a small marching
band, whilst Alexei and Kelly go on a vocal trip.
Midway through the song it turns to spoken word
vocals with Alexei speaking really fast and Kelly
singing "do,do,do,do" over and over
again and then out of no where the song really
beefs up and goes up many notches in sound which
really turns the song into a winner.
A video has been made for 'Salt, Peppa And Spinderella'
but the chances are you won’t be seeing
it on TV any time soon as most of the major television
channels have banned the video as it has effects
that could cause people to have epileptic fits
and after viewing the video it’s easy to
see why as the band put 68,000 plus still images
together to make the video and it could prove
to be a bit of a head fuck for some people seeing
it for the first time with no warning, but saying
that the video is fast and fun and is definitely
worth a watch.
Johnny Foreigner are one of those bands that
have everything going for them right now, they
may only be a three piece but they sure know how
to make a noise and a decent noise at that, they
have many killer tracks behind them and the release
of 'Salt, Peppa And Spinderella' gives the band
another killer hit single in the back of the net,
Johnny Foreigner are going to go far and I think
you should step aboard and watch them now just
as they are about to take off.
