Pendulum are currently enjoying their most successful
year to date, their current album 'In Silico' debuted
at number 2 in the album chart and has already reached
gold status, the two single releases 'Granite' and
'Propane Nightmare' have proved to be successful
within the singles chart, and it seems like the
band are forever on the road touring across pretty
much every city in the UK and playing pretty much
every major festival in the UK from the recently
played Project Revolution, Download and T In The
Park festival to the forthcoming festivals Reading,
Leeds and Creamfields, which is some achievement
to be able to play a wide choice of festivals which
is mainly due to the bands cross-over music appeal.
If a summer of festivals and near chart topping
single and album releases weren’t enough
for Pendulum the band have now confirmed that
they will be playing the ITunes Festival gig on
the 28th July and on the same day they will also
release their new single 'The Other Side', a single
that is bound to follow in the footsteps of the
bands previous single releases.
'The Other Side', starts off with a slow dance
introduction that gets louder and more upbeat
over time until it reaches its peak of proper
big meaty synths, the type that are bound to batter
your ear drums if listened to at full volume,
vocalist Rob Swire's vocals sound as strong and
clear as ever, but verge onto robotic territories
in places during the song. 'The Other Side' isn’t
the strongest single release from Pendulum, but
it is another perfect example of the bands clear
crossover sound of electronic dance music meets
rock.
At the moment Pendulum can’t do anything
wrong, they are currently enjoying a lot of success
and it’s pretty clear that Pendulum fever
is going to run well into 2009 especially when
the band are touring from now right up until Christmas
and keep releasing new successful singles at a
steady pace.
3.5/5
