Lap are a 3-piece emo / scremo band from Manchester that formed towards
the end of 2003 and write songs about real situations rather than about
girlfriends being dumped etc.
The bands sounds is very heavy very fast and good screamo vocals. The
first track 'I Am' showcases this perfectly and the song is a pure brutal
and fast screamo song. 'Sit Back' makes you want to do the opposite to
the song name, it makes you want to scream and shout along to the band
whilst moshing hard.
The album is pretty fast and brutal all the way through until you get
to track number six, 'A Joke Goes Wrong' which is a really slow sounding
track but picks up really quickly for the chorus, moments like this show
that Lap can do a bit of everything. The album finishes with 'The Velvet
Soft Voice Of a Music Legend’, which is a really hard fast track
with heavy riffs fast drumming and scremo vocals, great way to end the
ep.
If the band carry on writing songs as good and energetic as the ones on
this ep then the band are going to go far. Check out 'Life Among People',
you wont be disappointed.
