Think back to 2006, the year that Brigade released
their debut album 'Lights', the album was pretty
impressive and featured a host of strong kick arse
singles, songs that were so loud and rocking and
never got boring no matter how many times you listened
to them, the only downside was that Brigade were
never taken that seriously with many people putting
them down for sounding to much like many bands out
there in the same music scene such as InMe, Funeral
For A Friend and of course frontman Will Simpson's
brothers band Fightstar, now yeah I can see slight
comparisons within the bands but to me Brigade have
always had that edge that made them stand out from
the rest which is clearly made up from the Brigade
style guitar riffs that you can instantly recognize
during pretty much any Brigade song and also Will
Simpson’s strong stand out lead vocals.
Well Brigade are now back with their new album
'Come Morning We Fight' already getting massive
reviews from the press and fans alike. The main
single to be released from the album was 'Pilot',
the song was strong and clearly showed how Brigade
have progressed since the release of their debut
album 'Lights' and this time around Brigade clearly
do have the sound of a band who deserves to be
taken slowly. If you are still not fully convinced
with Brigade then check out the bands forthcoming
double a side single 'Sink, Sink, Swim' and 'Stunning',
the name of the second song speaks for itself.
'Sink, Sink, Swim', is a real rocking song, it
starts off with a big guitar riff introduction,
with the riffs running throughout the whole song
sounding quite similar, the lyrics are well written
and the vocals are as clear and strong sounding
as you have come to expect from Will Simpson now,
and they do have a poppy vibe during the upbeat
sounding chorus.
'Stunning' totally lives up to its name and it’s
the best song out of this double A side single
release. Take my advice and lock yourself in your
room for ten minutes, crank the volume up on your
stereo and listen to 'Stunning' a few times over
and if you can bring yourself away from your stereo
after listening to this masterpiece you will instantly
find yourself singing or humming along. 'Stunning'
is a song that is crammed with pure power-pop
energy, the song flows really well and at such
a fast bouncy pace, the lyrics do tend to be a
bit repetitive but it’s something that you
forget pretty much as quickly as you noticed it.
If 'Stunning' doesn’t get you hooked on
Brigade then I don’t think you will ever
get hooked on them.
You can clearly see that Brigade are brilliant
musicians who have mastered a sound that is more
than likely going to bring them major success
which they truly do deserve, 'Sink, Sink Swim'
and 'Stunning' is due for release at the start
of August and clearly shows British rock music
at its best.
