AFD Shift have certainly changed since I reviewed
their previous single 'Crusader', the song was full
of broken promises and sounded like a bad mix of
Limp Bizkit crossed with The Prodigy with a bit
of Jay Z style rapping thrown in. When the bands
new single 'Listen Then Leave' turned up on my door
step I was quite tempted to not even listen to it,
but I am now glad that I did as both the main song
'Listen And Leave' and the b-side 'Over And Out'
are solid tracks.
'Listen And Leave' has a massive sound and is
an adrenalin fuelled dance meets rock music track,
the song has fast paced dance beats and synths
running throughout with meaty sounding guitar
riffs crashing in and out by the side of the electronic
dance synths, the vocals are fast and raw sounding
for the most of the song but turn slightly melodic
for the more sing a long chorus. AFD Shift sure
know how to make a big catchy noise and it seems
like they don’t find time to come up for
air.
The b-side 'Over And Out', starts off how it
means to carry on and that’s fast and furious,
the vocals are just as raw as ever with that nu-metal
style rock meets hip hop vocals, the song is enjoyable
and has the potential to be a single release on
its own but at the same time it’s not as
good sounding as the main single.
Give AFD Shift 5 minutes of your life and listen
to 'Listen Then Leave' and 'Over And Out', as
during the songs you will notice that the band
have a hard hitting solid sound that is also quite
catchy. 'Crusader' left me very unsure about AFD
Shift and now I’m hooked on their new single
'Listen Then Leave', only time will tell if AFD
Shift become a band I truly love or hate in the
near future.
