I swear there is something going on in Brighton
that I don’t know about, or every UK band
have relocated to Brighton and claiming they have
always come from Brighton, the reason I say this
is because there are so many great bands coming
out of Brighton at the moment, many are in the mainstream,
some are close to breaking out of the underground
scene and others are just starting off such as a
new rock band I have just come across called The
Crucible.
The Crucible are a rock band, a rock band that
isn’t too heavy but is very experimental.
The band have just released their new single 'Beyond
Driven'.
'Beyond Driven' is really slow in pace, but is
a song where there is quite a lot on offer, the
bass line is really catchy and the guitars come
and go yet really stand out. The vocals are full
of melody and will leave you singing along in
no time at all. The drums are quite basic sounding
yet they can clearly be heard and stand out in
there own way.
The b-side to the single is 'To The Lions', the
song starts off with some really strange guitar
work, distortion can clearly be heard, soon after
the guitars get turned up a notch with a rocking
guitar solo, which soon switches back to a more
laid back sound and this is how the song runs
for the whole 3 minutes and 50 seconds. If you
like instrumental tracks then I think 'To The
Lions' has enough to please you, there are soundscapes
aplenty and the song doesn’t go on for too
long like the majority of boring instrumental
music that’s around at the moment.
With this release, The Crucible have shown how
strong and creative they can be as a band, the
main single has a lot going on and has been put
together really well with everything sounding
so spot on, and the b-side shows the bands creativity
and proves bands can still rock with no lyrics
and with the instruments doing all the talking.
4/5
