Johnny Traunt are an extremely angry band and seem
to get angrier and heavier with each album release
which is a good thing when you are hoping to dominate
the hardcore music scene. 'No Tears For The Creatures'
is the bands third full length studio album and
was produced by Dan Weller and Justin Hill of Wellerhill
productions (ex Sikth) and this time around the
sound of Johnny Truant has truly been mastered and
shows that Johnny Truant are still on the right
tracks for greatness.
The album opens with 'The Grotesque' and what
a fucking opening, as soon as you press play you
are greeted with hardcore roars and screams from
frontman Oliver Mitchell, the guitar riffs are
really thick and heavy, the drumming sounds like
a marching band with a real heavy stride, the
song is extremely brutal and if any music could
make your ears bleed I am pretty sure this song
has a strong chance if listened to at full volume
as it seriously is that brutal.
'Death Rides' is just as brutal as the opening
track but everything is played so much faster,
the vocals, bass, drums and guitar are all speeded
up making the track appear even heavier. The guitar
playing is really good, these guys surely know
how to nail some big meaty killer guitar riffs
and master their own hardcore sound.
The opening of 'Widower' is impressive stuff
with a fresh blast of energy, the guitar riffs
are thick and fast and frontman Oliver Mitchell
pretty much screams his lungs out, the track features
guest vocals from Wade Macneil of Alexisonfire
which adds to the overall feel of the song, the
song is fast and short running for just under
2 minutes but happens to be the highlight of the
album.
There are 10 tracks on 'No Tears For The Creatures'
and the album runs for just over 50 minutes, if
you listen to the whole album cranked up on full
volume and the whole in one go make sure you have
some paracetamols on stand by as the album is
extremely brutal and likely to give your head
a bashing whilst you enjoy the heaviness.
'No Tears For The Creatures’ is the best
Johnny Traunt album to date, it’s fast,
brutal, angry and hardcore at it's best. Johnny
Traunt have just completed a tour with the Cancer
Bats and Hexes which must of been one of the heaviest
tours to hit the small Barfly venues in some time,
the band are now heading out on tour with The
Fall Of Troy and are due to appear at the Download
Festival where their raw energetic live show could
easily blow the top off the Gibson tent they are
playing.
Johnny Traunt have been going from strength to
strength ever since they formed back in 2001 and
seem to get better and heavier with each release.
'No Tears For The Creatures' will please the hardcore
Johnny Traunt fans and pretty much anyone who
enjoys the hardcore music scene.
