Gavin Rossdale is best known for his time as frontman
in the band Bush and also for being married to No
Doubt front woman Gwen Stefani. Now Bush were a
band I grew up listening to, they were around for
just under 10 years and the song 'Swallowed' was
one of my favourite songs during the 1990's, when
Bush split up, Gavin formed a new band called Institute,
the band went on and released one album but their
time together was short lived and before you knew
about it Gavin Rossdale was forgotten about.
I was quite surprised when I heard Gavin decided
to go solo, when his bands split up I thought
his time of playing music was over but how wrong
could I be, Gavin is currently putting the finishing
touches to his forthcoming debut solo album 'Wanderlust'.
The first single to be taken from the album is
'Love Remains The Same', the song is a huge guitar
driven anthem, now what is on offer here is more
laid back from what Gavin has played in the past,
everything sounds more mature and honest, the
man has a wonderful voice which really does shine
here, his vocals are loud, clear and quite beautiful
sounding, the guitar riffs are nothing outstanding
but work really well with his overall sound.
I am quite impressed with the debut single from
Gavin Rossdale and I really hope the rest of the
songs on his forthcoming debut album follow in
the footsteps of this song. Gavin Rossdale has
never really received the credit that he deserves,
Bush were a great band but things never really
took off with the band always being one of those
background bands that people never really picked
up on, let’s hope this doesn’t happen
with Gavin’s solo efforts.
4/5
