Now this was a pleasant surprise receiving 'She
Gives It Around' by The Rivers, it’s the bands
brand new single and the follow up to the extremely
rocky 'Knock Me Down'. Now if you are unlucky enough
not to of heard The Rivers yet, they are the latest
promising band to come out of Brighton, a town that
is totally buzzing and dominating in the music scene
at the moment.
'She Gives It Around' is as good, if not better
than the bands previous single, it’s pure
indie rock but with the sound knocked up a notch
or two, you can see elements of The Kooks and
The Strokes in the bands sound, the chorus is
huge sounding, very catchy and very rocky.
The b-side 'Fold For You' is such a chilled out
acoustic song, it’s not great but it’s
not bad, it does take a while to get into and
there is enjoyment to be had in this song if you
give it time. Acoustic music has always had a
soft spot in my heart and it seems like a thing
The Rivers enjoy playing as most of their b-sides
are acoustic.
The Rivers are a cracking band and if they can
keep up this formula of bettering themselves with
each single release then they are going to enjoy
some major success, they have already enjoyed
support slots with Maximo Park and The Enemy and
are shortly going to hit the road with The Kooks
which is surely going to boost their ego and fan
base by huge amounts.
