I have actually been listening to this virtually
non-stop for months now. Taken from an album with
the same name, and arguably the best track, second
to "This Will Make You Love Again."
A strange electric echoed rumble, and four-to-the-floor
kick drum, form the backing to a powerful vocal
that admittedly, carries the entire track. When
the chorus starts, a hard-hitting industrial/dance
beat kicks in, as well as deep crunchy synthesised
chords; and a strange sense of euphoria comes
over you, providing you play it loud enough.
For a solo artist, this is powerful stuff, with
his vocal range trailing up and down the scales.
This song is epic, I won't lie. I'll also note
that this radio edit, misses out various parts
of the album version, which I believe is better.
This radio edit seems a little rushed?
As well as the single itself, there are two remixes
and an acoustic version. The Sidney Looper remix
just ruins the song, in all honesty. I'm a big
fan of techno remixes but the only thing that
has been salvaged from the original is the vocal
line, and even Sidney manages to balls that one
up too. The BitRayker Remix is a little more promising,
but still goes off and does it's own thing.
The acoustic version is interesting. The guitar
has a slight country/blue feel about it, yet the
vocals retain their brilliance over the top. However
when the chorus kicks in and you're ready for
a beautiful explosion, quite the reverse. It morphs
into a gentle quiet set of bars that are still
good, but not a touch on the original. I'd advise
though, if you want a listen, bypass buying the
single and go straight for the album.
5/5
