British rockers Brigade are back and are soon to
release their second studio album Come Morning We
Fight on the 12th May through Caned And Able Records,
the album is highly anticipated by both the fans
and press in the UK and is an album that Brigade
hope shoots them up there with the heavy bands in
the rock scene at the moment. Brigade gave the world
a taster of what to expect from their forthcoming
second studio album by offer a new song 'Shortcuts'
as a free download on their myspace, the song is
massive sounding, very hard hitting and a lot heavier
and tighter sounding than the bands previous outings,
the chorus is extremely catchy with frontman Will
Simpson's vocals being loud and clear. After teasing
the world with the free download of 'Shortcuts'
Brigade have announced that the lead single to be
taken from Come Morning We Fight is 'Pilot' the
single is released on the 28th April also on Caned
And Able Records.
'Pilot' is a huge powerful sounding rock song
that is bursting with brilliance, everything within
the song is spot on which shows that Brigade have
truly mastered their ability to write and create
classic songs time and time again. The song is
very atmospheric with a really good introduction
that builds up in sound over time with the guitars
becoming louder and louder, The drumming is constant
and really stands out which proves that new sticksman
Andrew Kearton has really settled into Brigade.
Will Simpson's vocals are clear and infectious,
James Plant's backing vocals really add to the
songs overall catchy rocking sound.
The b-side to the single is 'Yes It Is', this
song features a much heavier introduction with
Andrew Kearton's fast drum beats really standing
out and the dual assault of guitars coming across
loud and bold, both the drumming and guitar work
throughout the whole song stands out with a lot
of jamming on offer. The vocals are once again
loud and clear but a lot darker and heavier sounding.
I have always said that each Brigade single progresses
on the last and this time around Brigade have
had a lot of time on their hands and have come
back with a sound that many people will be pleasantly
surprised with, they have progressed a lot since
their last album Lights, an album that introduced
the band to the rock music scene. 'Pilot' is a
great come back single and only time will tell
if it’s the start of a big year for Brigade,
I must admit it’s looking likely, especially
with their album just around the corner, a completed
tour with Aiden and a support slot on the forthcoming
Fightstar tour.
