Sick City Club are the latest new band to come out
of Birmingham and be hyped up for huge things, the
band formed just in September 2007 after the two
founding members Alex Marshall and Lucas Cole met
on a music website bouncing song ideas off one another,
the bands lineup was complete pretty quick when
the other two members were met at university and
soon joined the band.
The opening instrumental work of 'Sign Of The
Times', is pretty outstanding, the riffs are pretty
thick and the drumming is quite constant, Alex
Marshalls vocals are something quite special,
they are quite loud and clear and reach a sing
a long peak during the epic chorus, overall the
song has a really tight sound that works very
well.
The b-side to the single is 'Anarchy' a song
that tells a story of how moving to Birmingham
from a small north east town can be exciting and
open many opportunities to people whilst being
quite dangerous at the same time. The song takes
a totally different approach from the previous
song and focuses more on a really distorted bass
sound and does take a lot more effort to fully
get into, but after a few listens you will either
really like this song or really dislike it.
It won’t be long until Sick City Club burst
out of the Birmingham underground scene and get
in their van for big tours across the UK, the
band have a great sound and this two track release
is the start of something good for the Sick City
Club.
