"Our Bipolar Friends" opens with some
whining female vocals that really tempt you to flick
the power switch on your choice of music player.
However, luckily, just in time, saves the day, things
pick up and all of a sudden you're careering though
a heavy guitar riff and a male vocal joins in. So,
minus the intro, this song is shit hot. Upbeat,
foot-tappingly good in fact. "The House Party
Scene Is Killing You," the b-side to this single,
is sadly, fairly week. It's stuff we've all heard
before and although it floats some people's boats,
it certainly doesn't float mine. The tuneless vocals
worked beautifully in the single, but on this track
where the textures are far thinner, it diverges
into a racket. The song appears to go nowhere, except
around in circles, and in comparison to track one,
it's a real bummer. The single alone deserves four
out of five, at least. But together with this latter
disaster, sadly not...
3/5
