The Finnish melodic death metal band Children Of
Bodom last released a studio album back in 2004
with 'Are You Dead Yet?' an album that really got
me into Children Of Bodom more than any of their
previous material, the album was angry and aggressive
sounding, yet quite melodic at the same time thanks
to Janne Jameson Warman's stunning keyboard work.
Now if you fast forward on 4 years, Children Of
Bodom are back and are gearing up to release their
sixth studio album 'Blooddrunk' in the middle of
April, but before the band do that they are releasing
a single of the same name, so how does the new material
sound?
Well 'Blooddrunk' shows that the band are still
as heavy as ever and still have really outstanding
Children Of Bodom signature keyboard work that
drives the song. 'Blooddrunk' starts with some
fast keyboard work that you would imagine hearing
in a horror movie, a heavy guitar riff soon kicks
in and then some spoken word vocals come in but
it’s not long before Alexi Laiho’s
distinctive vocals come in fully.
'Blooddrunk' is a great single and just what
you would expect from Children Of Bodom, hardcore
Children Of Bodom fans might be a bit dissapointed
as their sound does seem to move on slightly after
each release but at the same time they still stay
quite true to their signature sound.
5/5
