I first caught a glimpse of Flyleaf when I watched
them support Korn at the Academy in Birmingham back
in January and I was quite impressed with the few
songs that I saw from the bands set. Flyleaf released
their self-titled debut album in the UK back in
January to coincide with touring the UK with Korn.
The band head back to the UK at the start of March
to play a few more dates on the Korn tour and what
a better way to come back to the UK than release
their debut single 'I'm So Sick'.
'I'm So Sick' is a stunning song and is filled
with mixed emotions, the song starts off with
an aggressive sounding bass line and shortly after
front women Lacey Mosley's vocals come in sounding
quite eerie, it’s not long before the duel
assault of guitars kick in and at the same time
Lacey's vocals turn to aggressive growls of "I
will break" and seconds later her vocals
go melodic for the fast paced catchy chorus "I'm
so sick, infected with Where I live Let me live
without this Empty bliss, selfishness, I'm so
sick, I'm so sick".
Now this is signs of a really talented up and
coming band, the band manage to turn from aggressive
to melodicness in a matter of seconds and pull
it off really well, the band have a really noticeable
varied sound and I think quite a lot of people
are going to like and respect the band for being
heavy yet quite different.
5/5
