Billy Talent are here again with as much passion as ever. Their new single
“Devil In A Midnight Mass” has been long awaited, and had
a mix released a few months ago on MySpace and since then we've been waiting
for it's release.
However, when it was, shock horror, it's been changed! It's been mastered,
obviously, and the sound is a lot fuller, but they've chopped and changed
the order, changed words, and removed some sections altogether.
That doesn't stop it being fantastic, it just so happens that the original
mix was worth 6 out of 5.
The song starts with an awesome fuzzy bass riff, and then it flies into
the full band riff with a scream from the vocalist. Catchy vocals run
throughout the song and work well with the fast-paced backing.
Billy Talent have seemingly progressed in leaps and bounds since their
earlier album, in terms of both ability, and song quality. There was something
amazing still buried within their old raw material, and despite tidying
it all up, they have still retained it, making them one of the most promising
bands ever to leave Canada.
Look forward to the release of the album Billy Talent II, on June 26th.
5/5
