Pendulum are a dance band from Australia who have only played a few live
shows to date with the biggest show being at this years Glastonbury Festival
where they headlined the dance stage in front of thousands of people.
The band are now back in the UK and are touring from now until the start
of December which happens to be the bands biggest tour to date and to
coincide with the tour the band are releasing their debut UK single 'Granite'.
'Granite' is a really interesting song mixing dance music with rock music,
the song features classic dance beats and synths like you would expect
from your average dance band but the band have decided to go one better
and add guitars to their sound and the result is pretty damn good, heavy
guitar work mixed with aggressive sounding synths really can’t be
faulted here as it works so well together, the song features very few
lyrics but when the vocals do come in they sound quite aggressive and
the bands overall sound gives them an industrial feel like Nine Inch Nails.
I wasn’t looking forward to listening to Pendulum as I normally
find dance music quite repetitive and irritating but Pendulum have taken
dance music in a new direction mixing it with alternative music with guitars
and aggressive vocals added in.
3.5/5
