Throwdown formed a good ten years ago and have done a lot in their time
as a band from running the show on the second stage at Ozzfest to playing
a short stint on the Warped tour and not to mention the number of great
bands they have shared the stage with, the band have also been through
various line up changes which seems to have done the band a lot of good
as you can clearly see on their extremely anticipated new album 'Venom
And Tears'.
'Venom And Tears' is a stunning album and is extremely brutal and full
of passion as you can clearly tell from the stunning drum rolls and thrashy
guitar work that opens up the album on the first track 'Holy Roller',
the guitars are stunning throughout being extremely fast paced and Dave
Peters vocals are pretty hardcore and in your face too. 'Day Of The Dog'
is another heavy and fast paced song, the song takes a bit of time to
get going but once the vocals come in it’s not long before the song
really gets going.
If you like your hardcore music to be fast and furious with really raw
sounding vocals then you really need to listen to 'S.C.U.M.' as the song
is the fastest track on the album and Dave Peters vocals sound really
fast and raw here. If you want some kick arse guitar work then look no
further than 'Americana' as the guitar work is simply stunning and quite
technical. Half way through the album is 'Cancer', an instrumental song
that features some really good guitar work.
Most hardcore music its pretty impossible to make out the lyrics without
reading the booklet for lyrics or looking up the lyrics on the internet
but with 'Venom And Tears' the lyrics are quite understandable on the
majority of the songs.
If you were hooked with previous Throwdown albums then you are going to
love Venom And Tears as the band have took their sound to a whole new
level, things are still heavy but everything sounds more passionate, emotional
and more together. 'Venom And Tears' is sure to please the bands fans
and I wouldn’t be surprised if it brings the band in a bigger fan
base. I really can’t wait to catch the band play songs from this
album live.
