If you have heard the third studio album from Athlete 'Beyond The Neighbourhood'
you will realise that the band have taken a huge leap forward from the
sound of their second album 'Tourist' everything sounds huge and well
put together. The first single to be released from the album 'Hurricane'
and the band are now ready to lift a second a single from the album in
the form of 'Tokyo' a song that was inspired by a journey travelling over
Rainbow Bridge in to Tokyo.
'Tokyo' is a song that features a lot of stuff going on at once from a
really laid back opening that features some toned down guitar riffs, some
beautiful sounding piano chords and a standout bass line, Joel Potts vocals
soon come in sounding quite chilled out until the rememberable chorus
kicks in and Potts sings with passion over the constant drumming and heavier
guitar riffs.
The single release of 'Tokyo' is the perfect opportunity for people to
see how Athlete's sound has grown for the better as it features a lot
going on at once and the sound is a whole lot bolder and energetic.
3.5/5
