Kill The Arcade are new to Tree Brain Records; the record label that is
home to the extremely catchy UK punk band Tonight Is Goodbye and to be
fair Kill The Arcade sound quite similar to Tonight Is Goodbye in so many
ways which is a good thing in my opinion as the UK needs their fair share
of poppy punk bands to show that it’s not just the Americans running
the scene and Tree Brain Records could end up being a good label to rival
American's Drive Thru Records if they carry on signing up top notch bands
like Kill The Arcade.
Back to Kill The Arcade they are a 5-piece band from the south east of
England and they have just released their debut album 'An Impostor In
The Family' the EP is just 4 tracks long and running for just over 13
minutes and is quite an impressive sing a long ride.
The EP opens with 'Happy Birthday Bermuda Triangle' which is also the
bands lead single to promote the EP and to be fair it is a cracking bit
of energetic poppy punk and the best thing is the vocals are very English
and extremely catchy and is the kind of song that doesn’t take much
effort or many listens to get into. 'The Only Comfort I Can Think Of'
is another top notch song with some catchy guitar riffs on offer and once
again Lee Newell's vocals are extremely infectious and the backing vocals
add a bit of variety to the song. 'There's No Such Thing As Healthy Competition'
and 'Back Of Man, I'm A Scientist' are both enjoyable songs just as catchy
as the first two tracks from the EP.
The most interesting thing about Kill The Arcade is that they write lyrics
that you would expect to hear in some death metal song with subjects such
as betrayal, imprisonment, murder and many other dark subjects coming
up in their songs, and the band bring the stories to life in an extremely
poppy infectious way whilst most people in their genre are singing about
love and ex girlfriends.
Overall, Kill The Arcade are an exceptionally talented band and have the
potential to become extremely successful, let’s hope major radio
stations and music TV shows pick up on the band and give them the much
deserved air play they need
4/5
