Ashes Of Pomeii - The End Begins TommorrowAshes Of Pompeii - The End Begins Tomorrow

Ashes of Pompeii are a four piece band from Marburg in Germany and formed back in 2004, the band are well known in the touring circuit of Germany and have also played on the Taste Of Chaos tour 2006 in Germany alongside some great bands such as Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, Anti-Flag and a few others. Despite this, Ashes Of Pompeii are pretty new to me.
The bands debut album 'The End Begins Tomorrow' is being released in the UK towards the end of September. From the bands name and album name and also the fact that they come from Germany I was expecting them to be an extremely heavy band but they are more of a melodic sounding band with a few heavy moments.

The album opens up with 'This Is The Spat' which starts off with some spoken word vocals and extremely fast guitar playing, sing a long vocals soon come in though leading up to the catchy chorus. The song does feature some growling backing vocals that seem to fit in place.
'Collapse//Collide' has quite a long technical introduction, the vocals take about 45 seconds to come in but are worth the wait as Tobi Moesch has a nice and strong voice that works really well in this band.

There are so many highlights on this album such as the rocking introduction of 'Recording The Fall' to the short instrumental of 'Incidence' to the stunning powerful vocals in 'Cuba Dive' and the outstanding 'Sometimes Friendship Can Be Murder' which has such a great introduction and a wide mixture of vocals chopping and changing from sing a long to growls in no time at all.

There aren’t many flaws in this album but 'Last Light You Pass By' is a really chilled out almost acoustic sounding track that is not going to appeal to everyone but it’s not necessarily a bad song.

Overall Ashes Of Pompeii are a good band, they didn’t sound anything like what I was expecting but they were still surprisingly a good band. If you like indie and screamo music but not sure which genre you like the best, I’m sure you will like Ashes Of Pompeii as they bring in the best of both worlds especially with their mixture of vocals.
