Boston quintet street-punks The Unseen have been together for fourteen
years now and are ready to release their sixth studio album 'Internal
Salvation' which is also their second album release on punk label Hellcat
Records which the band signed to in 2005.
'Internal Salvation' is the kind of album that will remind people why
they got into punk in the first place with most songs running for just
over two minutes in length and each song being fast and furious hardcore
punk rock, the guitar work on the album is so strong and the mixed raw
and sing a long vocals stand out giving the band a great sound.
The album opens up with 'The Brutal Truth', which is a spoken word introduction.
The band soon kicks into 'Such Tragedy’, which is a pure fast punk
rock track that sounds ever so slightly like The Cancer Bats. 'At Point
Break' takes a slower approach to start with but as soon as Mark Unseen
vocals kick in, things speed up. 'At Point Break' is fast and raw and
one of my favourite songs on the album that becomes quite sing a long
in places leading the song to stand out from the rest. 'Torn And Shattered
(Nothing Left)' is another one of my favourite songs, the drumming is
spot on, the guitars are fast and strong and the vocals are quite sing
a long.
To be fair, most of the songs on 'Internal Salvation' are pretty damn
good and worthy of listening to. The Unseen remind me of many great punk
bands from Rise Against, Cancer Bats and Anti Flag in places but the sad
thing is that the band have never got the recognition they deserve due
to the fact they are signed to Hellcat Records, a label where the majority
of the bands all sound the same but the Unseen are one of the only bands
on Hellcat Records that stand out from the rest and deserve to be big.
Lets hope people see sense with the release of 'Internal Salvation'.
3.5/5
