Marilyn Manson is once again back on the music scene, it seems like only
yesterday everyone claimed Marilyn Manson had quit the music scene and now
he’s back with a brand new album 'Eat Me, Drink Me' and the first
single to be taken from the album is 'Heart-shaped Glasses'.
When I first heard 'Heart-Shaped Glasses' I was pretty disappointed with
it because it seemed quite repetitive and quite toned down compared to
classic Marilyn Manson songs. But I have since realised 'Heart-Shaped
Glasses' is a grower and one of them songs that takes multiple listens
before the greatness of it really sinks in. The instrumental work on the
song is pretty melodic with standout drum rolls and top notch guitar work
and Marilyn's vocals help make the song.
I have always been a fan of Marilyn Manson but have never been too impressed
with his material since 2003's 'Golden Age Of Grotesque' album and the
cheesy covers of 'Personal Jesus' and 'Tainted Love'. 'Heart-Shaped Glasses'
doesn’t see Marilyn Manson back on form but does see them take a
slightly different approach in music which seems to work really well for
them. It will be good to see how good their new album 'Eat Me, Drink Me'
is.
