Chris Cornell is a well known and well loved man in the music industry who
first found success fronting 90's rock band Soundgarden and soon after the
split of Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell teamed up with Tom Morello, Tim
Commerford and Brad Wik from Rage Against The Machine to form the superband
Audioslave who went on to release three successful albums before Cornell
quit the band in 2006 to work on a solo album.
May the 28th will see the release of Chris Cornell's solo album 'Carry
On' and the albums lead single 'Arms Around Your Love' will be released
a week before the album.
'Arms Around Your Love' is a song that deals with loss and jealousy and
sounds a lot different and toned down from anything Cornell has previously
made with his bands Audioslave and Soundgarden, which is a good thing
for the fact that he’s not knocking out the same old songs time
and time again. Chris Cornell's vocals are very strong on 'Arms Around
Your Love' but things are slightly let down by the ever so bland music
that he is playing.
Whenever a band splits up and the singer decides to go alone and make
a solo album I’m always a bit weary that they are going to take
a more boy band sound and find themselves featured in Smash Hits magazine
week after week, luckily Chris Cornell has not taken this route but has
gone for a more toned down version of his previous sounds which takes
a few listens to get into but fails to stick in your head.
