Korn are one of the hardest working metal bands ever, since the band formed back in 1993 they have toured the world over so many times and have gone on to release 11 studio albums and through that time they have gone through various line-up changes and also sound changes with their 2011 album ‘The Path Of Totality’ being the most experimental Korn album to date with them teaming up with the likes of Skrillex, Noisia and various other artists for a mad fusion of metal meets dub step.
The band are now putting the finishing touches to their twelfth studio album ‘The Serenity Of Suffering’ which is due for release on the 21st October and happens to be the second studio since former guitarist Brian Head Welch re-joined the band and during a recent interview Brain Head Welch stated that the album is the heaviest Korn album in a long time.
‘Rotting In Vain’ which happens to be the first single from the forthcoming album ‘The Serenity Of Suffering’ has just been released and it is an absolute tub-thumper and see’s Korn go back to their routes knocking out a pure heavy metal song for the best part of 4minutes, instrumentally things are very heavy with Munky, Head, Fieldy and Ray Luzier creating some heavy sound amongst themselves, whilst vocally Johnathan Davis has never sounded better especially when he lays down those epic old skool “Johnathan Davis” sounds.
If ‘Rotting In Vain’ is anything to go by then ‘The Serenity Of Suffering’ is going to be one of the best Korn albums in a long time and on the back of hearing just one song from the forthcoming album it’s safe to say Brian Head Welch was not messing about when he said their new material is some of the heaviest Korn material.
