At Alternative Vision we have followed and supported Natives right from the very beginning when they were originally known as the pop-punk band Not Advised before renaming to Natives in 2012 and it is fair to say that the band have come on a lot musically since their formation and now carry a much more mature tribal pop sound.
It has been a good 2 years since we last heard from Natives with the release of their debut album ‘Indoor War’ and the numerous singles and tours which followed the album and there is a good reason why the band have been silent for so long, firstly they are now a four piece with Ash Oliver leaving the band for personal reasons and secondly they have been working on new material for the past 18 months and are working hard on a 20 track concept album which will be released in the near future.
Luckily the wait for new music from Natives is over as they have just dropped their first new single ‘Stop The Rain’ a song which was inspired by a life changing trip to Morocco where the band also filmed the music video for the song and judging by the upbeat sounds of the song and the thrilling video the band had an fun time in Morocco.
‘Stop The Rain’ is a big indie meets tribal pop song which oozes in excellence and everything from the tribal drumming to the infectious chorus to the overall summer feel is what makes ‘Stop The Rain’ such an massive enjoyable radio friendly anthem , it is the anthem of the summer you never knew you needed until now.
The time away from the music scene has done Natives a whole power of good they have taken the time to travel the world, mature and most importantly document their life in the world of music in such an impressive upbeat way and I personally can’t wait to hear their forthcoming concept album and the novel which tells the story of the albums construction.
