Beartooth – Aggressive
Beartooth – Aggressive

Since releasing their debut album ‘Disgusting’ back in 2014 Beartooth have been on one hell of a journey which has seen them support the likes of Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Don Broco, We Are The In Crowd, Young Guns, Bury Tomorrow and also the Download and Slam Dunk Festivals in the UK and now the band are gearing up to release their second studio album ‘Aggressive’ which is due to drop on the 3rd June.

Over the past couple of months Beartooth have released a number of new songs with the likes of ‘Aggressive’, ‘Always Dead’, ‘Loser’ and ‘Hated’ being released and if you have taken the time to listen to these songs then you will already have an idea of how good the album ‘Aggressive’ is and as the names of the singles suggest Beartooth have a lot of anger to unleash and that they do but they do it in a big fun way as they combine punk rock with hardcore and smash their way through this twelve track album in an impressive way which will have you coming back for more listening to the album again and again as you take in every riff, every beat and every aggressive growl.

The album opens with the title track ‘Aggressive’ a song which perfectly sets the tone for the album as Caleb Shomo screams his bollocks off for the majority of the song whilst Taylor Lumley, Kamron Bradbury and Oshie Bichar go all out creating aggressive sounds which their guitar riffs and baselines, when the chorus kicks in the band go down a more melodic route and that’s one of the things which make Beartooth stand out above other bands in their genre with the fact that they are heavy as fuck yet also manage to make things big and infectious throughout the whole album.

‘Hated’ opens with Caleb Shomo singing “Who knew you would be hated for being who you are and being a target for all the insecure” and seconds later the guitars blast in heavily and full of speed and before you know it Beartooth are taking you on yet another big in your face heavy yet melodic anthem which will leave you bouncing off your walls whilst screaming along at the top of your lungs.

‘Loser’ opens with screams of “Loser” with some faced paced riffs also gracing the airwaves and as the song progresses the vocals become louder and faster and so does the guitar riffs until the super melodic chorus kicks in as Beartooth ditch the hardcore sounds and go down a more fast driven punk rock route.

‘Fair Weather Friend’ is full of massive screams and chunky riffs until the infectious chorus comes in and Beartooth take you on yet another catchy ride.  ‘Burnout’ is one of the heaviest songs on the album and is so raw and hardcore sounding with a big mix of heavy riffs, solid lead vocals and huge gang vocals. ‘Sick Of Me’ is a pure punk rock anthem it’s not too heavy and is easily the radio friendly anthem of the album.

The whole album is a tubthumping experience from start to finish and as soon as the last riff is laid down on album closer ‘Rock Is Dead’ you will be reaching for the play button again so you can relive the masterpiece that has just pleased your ears for the past 40 minutes.

With ‘Aggressive’ Caleb Shomo wanted to create an album that people would understand where he is at musically now and I think he has done a good job of that as ‘Aggressive’ is a big diverse album which is as heavy as it is melodic as it is enjoyable, Beartooth are a solid band and they have a very bright future ahead of them if they carry on releasing albums as enjoyable as ‘Aggressive’ is, and I can see the album going down a storm on the live circuit if Beartooth every decide to play it in it’s entirety.
