After The Burial - Dig Deep
After The Burial - Dig Deep

I always get these guys confused with As Blood Runs Black for some reason and I’m not sure why. Needless to say I braced myself when I decided to let this loose and was quite relieved to not be bombarded with a ridiculous amount of blast beats and bass. Now I always research bands who I have yet to truly acquaint myself with and from what I can see here this is the band’s first album without one of its found members Justin Lowe who suffered from Mental Distress causing him to leave the band, later on this gentleman was found dead and that’s such a sad story my heart goes out to the guys here it must be a rough time and I expect their material will reflect this.

>Straight from the get go I am bombarded with a chaotic flash of tones which to a certain extent have a structure to the sheer madness as there are transitions, drops and consistencies throughout. I can absolutely see this inciting some extremely violent reactions when played live, vivid images I can see of that. My personal favorites are “Mire”, “Deluge” and “Catacombs” they’ve just got that tone and use of transitions to keep me interested and relax me. My experience with the album was that I can never tire of those 3 but the others don’t really grab and hold my attention long enough and I feel the urge to skip when I get around halfway through, doesn’t mean they aren’t good just think that the transitions between tempo and tone are a bit much for me to follow at times.

Known of these guys for years but the name put me off them for a while there because of the experience I had with Whitechapel who I just simply cannot listen to, it hurts my life to do so. I regret that decision now and will go back over their past material to make up for lost time. I only hope some of you can do the same with me!
