Dorp are a four piece band and 'Simon Says' is the first release from Dorp
in 2007 and is the follow up to their debut release 'London Out There' which
was also released on the Caned And Able record label.
The lyrics on 'Simon Says' are cleverly written and quite tongue in cheek
and are trying to make sense of all the natural disasters that have struck
the planet recently. The music is quite mellow rock with a few heavy moments
mixed with a bit of techno sounds, the vocals are quite clear and work
really well on the chorus. The cd single also comes with five different
remix versions of the song that do sound totally different from the last
but their not really that special and aren’t going to bring success
to Dorp.
To be fair 'Simon Says' is a pretty average song that seems to get more
boring after a few listens. The song is also classed as a live favourite
which I simply fail to understand as its got no energy what so ever and
would leave me with my arms folded at a gig feeling slightly dissapointed.
2/5
