Supergroup The Dead Daises released their self
titled debut album back in 2013 and since then
they have enjoyed headline UK shows as well as
shows supporting the Black Star Riders on a sold
out UK as well as a successful run of shows in
Australia and America which saw them go out on
their own headline shows as well as supporting
the likes of Bad Company, Lynyrd Skynrd, Kiss
and Def Leppard.
The Dead Daises have recently just released a
new 4 track EP titled ‘Face I Love’
and if you thought their debut album was good
then be prepared to be blown away by ‘Face
I Love’ as for the whole 15minutes duration
the EP is filled with musical excellence as the
band unleash their classic rock sound with as
much energy and passion as possible.
The EP opens with the title track ‘Face
I Love’ and from the start everything is
massive sounding with huge riffs blasting through
the speakers, beautiful keyboard sounds, whilst
the vocals from Jon Stevens are so full on, big
and loud sounding. and in general the whole band
seem to gel together and create one hell of a
rocking song which kicks ass from start to finish.
‘Angel In Your Eyes’ is a right bouncy
number opening up with some of the best riffs
and basslines you have heard in a long time, and
as the song progresses the solid vocals from Jon
Stevens build up and you start to realise just
how big his vocal range is and just what skills
he has when he executes his vocals, once the chorus
kicks in you won’t be able to resist singing
along and for the whole duration of the song I
am pretty sure you will find it hard to keep still
as there is just so much groove running throughout.
‘Your Karma’ is huge and opens with
Jon Stevens screaming his lungs out like hes some
rock hero from the late 70’s, the song is
fantastic sounding it has a retro feeling but
it is also so full on and in your face as the
band once again put everything into this with
solid guitar solos and Dizzy Reed really showing
off his epic keyboard skills.
The EP comes to a close with a cover of the classic
Beatles song ‘Helter Skelter’ and
it is a fun cover which stays quite true to The
Beatles original but also has a nice little Dead
Daises spin on it in the way that the song is
pretty damn loud and full on.
With their debut album The Dead Daises proved
that they were serious musicians and out looking
for success and the release of ‘Face I Love’
proves that after so long on the road touring
the band have managed to bring their fun energetic
vibe to a studio recording and it is quite frankly
a great listen which you will find yourself listening
to on repeat especially for the fact that the
EP only runs for 15minutes and will leave you
wanting more of this fast paced classic rock.
