Sirens - Resistant To Change | Destined To FailSirens – Resistant To Change | Destined To Fail

Sirens are a sextet from Brimingham who formed back in 2012 quickly went on to release their debut EP for free before heading out on the road playing as many shows as they could which included supporting the likes of Bam Margera, Heights, Devil Sold His Sole, We Butter Bread With Butter, Palm Reader, Dead Hearts, While She Sleeps and many other bands.

For the past year Sirens have been pretty quiet on the live front as they have been busy in the studio laying down all their skills and everything they have on their new EP ‘Resistant To Change | Destined To Fail’[ and after listening to the EP it seems like their time away from the live circuit and quality band and studio time has seriously paid off for Sirens as ‘Resistant To Change | Destined To Fail’ is one hell of a brutal album which is going to give your ears a pounding yet leave you smiling from ear to ear.

The EP opens with the lead track ‘Notches’ which opens with some space age soundscapes before mayhem erupts on your ears as the lead vocals come in at what feels like 100miles per hour with a lot of pent up anger being unleashed and within seconds the rest of the band join force with chugging guitar riffs, beastly drum beats as the band unleash a whirlwind of sound for the best part of 3minutes and 30seconds.

The opening vocals and growls on ‘No Nature Of Mine’ are fantastic and the aggression is kept up for pretty much the duration of the song apart from a few break downs. ‘Creature’ is the latest single to be taken from the EP and it is clear to see why as the bands aggression is still there but they head down a melodic route for the best part of the song and it works really well, especially alongside the electronics and top instrumental work.

‘The Void’ see’s the band go down an experimental route with a mad flurry of soundscapes gracing the airwaves with a big retro feel and this is something that the band manage to keep up for the majority of the song with no aggression and minimum vocals in place.

‘True Colours’ is Sirens at their best as they let rip with aggressive sounds showing off their heaviest side whilst things go down the melodic route towards the later part of the song. ‘Bad Blood’ is equally aggressive and the machine gun style riffage and pounding drum beats at the start of the song is fantastic and not to forget the extreme growls and screams with dominate the song for the majority.

Things come to an end with ‘Bridge To Burden’ a song which see’s Sirens just show how fast paced and energetic they can be whilst letting off enough aggression to make this a fist pumping mosh pit anthem which is going to go down a storm on the live circuit.

If you are after aggressive sounds which have a slight experimental feel to them then look no further than ‘Resistant To Change | Destined To Fail’ by Sirens.
