Reachback - AdventurelandReachback – Adventureland

Essex pop-punkers Reachback are set to release their debut album ‘Adventureland’ on the 3rd June through Spectra Records, the band formed back in 2008 and since then they have been on the road constantly touring and gaining a solid fan base and through that time they have shared the stage with the likes of Scouting For Girls, Mayday Parade, Forever The Sickest Kids and many other high profile bands and now the band hope the release of ‘Adventureland’ will see them enjoy the same success as their influences All Time Low, Paramore and We Are The In Crowd.

‘Adventureland’ stays pretty true to its name in the way that the album features 10 tracks of an upbeat bouncy nature where for the majority things are extremely fast and slightly cute sounding as the band the band unleash summer pop-punk anthems back to back.

The album opens with ‘No Place Like Home’ a song which starts off all softly but as soon as the chorus kicks in things become extremely melodic as Reachback start to make their mark, vocalist Ruby Williams has an impressive vocal range and that is shown perfectly throughout the song as she changes her range slightly to suit with the rest of the song.

‘Saviour’ is the band’s latest single and within the first couple of seconds you can see why just from hearing the super catchy “woaah woaaah” backing vocals, as the song progresses it gets bigger and better with Ruby Williams telling a story whilst the tempo of the song builds up for the seriously infectious chorus which gets more passionate and spot on towards the end of the song.

Ruby Williams comes in with some speed singing opening up the nicely titled ‘Slam Dunk The Punk’ and this is followed up by some solid guitar and basslines as the band go all out laying down some fast paced instrumental work, the song flows perfectly and has enough bounce for you to blast the song on top volume whilst having a Spacehopper race to see who can bounce the quickest to the music.

‘Brave’ really shows off Ruby Williams vocal range as she really lets go and lays down her vocals in a such a big and beautiful way with her vocals sounding bigger and better than anywhere else on the album.

As the album progresses there is no letting up as the likes of ‘Fairy Tale, ‘Take My Hand’, ‘Pretty Slick’, ‘Forever Young’ all pack a mighty fine infectious punch as the band manage to keep up the infectious goodness for the whole 31minute duration of the album.

I am sure that many people will throw the usual Paramore comparison over because Reachback are a female fronted band and even more so because front lady Ruby Williams shares the same surname as Paramore’s Hayley Williams but to be fair Reachback are their own little pop-punk band who write, record and perform super happy songs that have the knack of getting in your head for an extremely long time.
