Second Rate Angels are a new rock band from the
UK they are heavily influenced by the likes of
Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium
and various other powerful metal bands and they
are set to release their debut EP ‘The Lost
Days’ on Monday the 2nd June.
‘The Lost Days’ is a 4 track tub-tumping
EP which runs for just under 20minutes and as
soon as the band start things off with the epic
‘Give It A Name’ the Avenged Sevenfold
and Trivium influences clearly shine through as
the opening 40seconds sounds like Avenged Sevenfold
slowly morphing into Trivium but as soon as Dave
Gobran’s vocals come in at the 45second
mark you instantly realise that these guys may
well be influenced by some big guns but they know
how to make their music sound like their own,
the whole drums, bass and guitars are fast and
furious throughout the song with the constant
pounding drum beats standing out so well whilst
vocally the more shouty backing vocals from Chris
Lewis and Matt Clark work well alongside the lead
vocals from Dave Gobran.
‘Dragged Out’ starts off in a softer
way but in no time at all things pick up and the
band go all out for a big rocking sing-a-long
rock n’ roll anthem where the guitar riffs
are so big and strong and the trio of vocals from
Chris Lewis, Matt Clark and Dave Gobran really
bring the song to life in a big way.
‘The Lost Days’ see’s the band
unleash mayhem as the song opens in such a crazy
way with the drums and guitars coming at you with
such force and speed, once again vocally Dave
Gobran is on top form as he lays down his big
infectious powerful vocals.
The EP closes with the fantastic ‘Black
Ice’ the song opens with machine gun style
riffage and a vocal performance which will have
you throwing your fists in the air as you shout
along with Dave Gobran and the rest of the band
when the killer chorus kicks in.
For a debut offering ‘The Lost Days’
is a fantastic release which hits full throttle
for its duration, Second Rate Angles are great
song writer and great performers and I personally
can’t wait to catch them on the live circuit
after being blown away by ‘The Lost Days’.
