Steel Panther are back with their third studio
album ‘All You Can Eat’ and they are
still looking and sounding like a mix of Motley
Crue, Bon Jovi and Van Halen and the sexual themes
and jokes are still flowing throughout their music
yet this time with an album title of ‘All
You Can Eat’ and song titles of ‘Gloryhole’
, ‘Bukkake Tears’, ‘Gangbang
At The Old Folks Home’, ‘BVS’
and ‘She’s On The Rag’ you can
instantly tell that the band have out done themselves
when it comes to writing fucked up songs and lyrics.
Musically ‘All You Eat’ doesn’t
live up to the greatness of the bands breakthrough
second studio album ‘Feel The Steel’
but then again there third album ‘Balls
Out’ also failed to live up to the greatness
of their second studio album, however ‘All
You Can Eat’ is a 48minute running 12 track
album which is full of laughs and damn right wrongness
throughout, but then again this is Steel Panther
so I am pretty sure that you didn’t expect
anything different to this.
The album opens with the powerful sounding ‘Pussywhipped’
a song which see’s Steel Panther play their
instruments like kings especially Satchel who
lets out some mighty sequels on his guitar, lyrically
the song is quite repetitive but vocally Michael
Starr is on top form hitting both high and low
notes with perfection.
Lead single ‘Party Like Tomorrow Is The
End Of The World’ is a song about forgetting
about the bad stuff happening in the world and
cure these worry’s by having constant parties
and sex, the song is an extremely catchy rock
anthem, whilst current single ‘The Burden
Of Being Wonderful’ see’s Steel Panther
go down the power ballad route and it is the kind
of song which is going to see the fans reach for
their lighters whilst experiencing it on the live
circuit, on first listen you will most probably
feel underwhelmed by the song as it’s not
what you would expect from Steel Panther but trust
me the more you listen to the song the better
it gets.
Songs like ‘Gloryhole’, ‘Gangbang
At The Old Folks Home’ and ‘Fucking
My Heart In The Ass’ all bring that retro
rock ‘n roll vibe home as Steel Panther
lay down some tasty riffs whilst also knocking
out some seriously funny lyrics especially ‘Gangbang
at The Old Folks Home’ which is about having
a gangbang with people over the age of 76, and
‘Gloryhole’ which is about visiting
a hole in the wall in France and not knowing who’s
at the other side.
Lyrics such as ‘B.V.S. is a bit like shooting
hoops with a tennis ball it’s easy to get
it in there but it doesn’t really satisfy
at all” during ‘BVS’ and “If
I was king Megan Fox would be my Queen but I’d
still fuck Christie Brinkley and any girl older
than 16, I’d execute One Direction and drop
a nuke on the middle east but I’d take the
oil first so we wouldn’t have to feel the
sting” during ‘If I Was The King’
will bring a lot of laughter on the first couple
of listens but then there are moments such as
“there was so much love on your face, I
couldn’t see the tears” during ‘Bukkake
Tears’ and “Now theres.... Blood on
my hands, blood on my face, blood on my dick,
all over the place, now I know she’s on
the rag” during ‘Shes On The Rag’
which may well cross some boundaries for some
people but let’s face it Steel Panther have
no boundaries and the majority of their fans love
everything they come out with they know there
not serious and also go for the shock factor.
When it comes to creating new music Steel Panther
don’t mess about and each and every album
they come back with lyrical content which is more
shocking than before, but if they didn’t
then we would be left seriously disappointed as
the bands lyrical content and lack of boundaries
is what makes them so exciting, as mentioned above
‘All You Can Eat’ is not as good as
their second studio album ‘Feel The Steel’
but it is easily better than their third studio
album ‘Balls Out’ and I am sure if
you own any of the Steel Panther back catalogue
you already have ‘All You Can Eat’
on pre order.
