Decade front man Alex Sears is a workaholic who
is forever writing new music for his solo side
project Sophomore and also his band Decade and
now after various EP releases Decade are set to
kick 2014 off in style with the release of their
10 track debut album ‘Good Luck’ which
is set for release on Spinefarm Records on the
14th January.
The band finished 2013 off in style with a sold
out tour alongside Tonight Alive and also an outstanding
appearance at the UK leg of the Warped Tour at
Alexandria Palace in London and they also started
teasing material from their debut album with the
release of ‘Brain freeze’ and ‘Callous’
as singles.
Good Luck opens with a song of the same name and
in the song’s short 2minute and 47seconds
running it features pretty much everything you
would expect from a pop-punk anthem in the way
that the instrumental work is solid sounding and
extremely bouncy whilst the vocals are truly infectious
with front man Alex Sears having a set of unique
vocals which you can’t help but love.
The likes of ‘Brainfreeze’ and ‘Callous’
were fantastic when they were first released as
singles a couple of months ago and even after
hearing the songs many times over the past couple
of months the songs still have the same exciting
appeal as they did when I first heard them and
it is moments like this which are really going
to help Decade have a bright future in the music
scene as let’s face it ‘Brainfreeze’
is easily the strongest track on the album and
one of the most radio friendly tracks I have heard
in a long whilst also packing a slight aggressive
punch.
‘British Weather’ is the current single
to be taken from the album and just like the two
previous singles the song kicks arse as it is
a big infectious number where Alex Sears really
gets you hooked with his infectious vocals and
let’s not forget the Decade signature guitar
riffs which seem to crop up in many of the band’s
songs.
Throughout the 10 track album there are no dull
moments in sight as the likes of ‘Woke’,
‘I Don’t Care’, ‘Coffin’,
‘Homebound’ and ‘Fake Teeth’
feature as much energy and pop-punk passion as
the main single releases and it is when bands
release an album that is all killer and no filler
that you just know that they are onto something
good.
Good Luck may well only run for 27 minutes but
each and every one of those minutes is an enjoyable
experience as these 5 young lads from Bath churn
out their pop-punk sounds with added aggression.
