The Dead Daises are the latest super band to take
the alternative music scene by storm, the band
are made up of Jon Stevens (Noiseworks/INXS),
Brian Tichy (Whitesnake), Richard Fortus (Guns
'N' Roses), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy), David
Lowy (Mink/The Angels), and Dizzy Reed (Guns 'N'
Roses) and spent the majority of the summer touring
on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival across
America alongside Alice In Chains, Jane’s
Addiction and many other bands and now The Dead
Daises are ready to take the UK by storm with
the release of their self titled debut album and
also a massive tour supporting The Black Star
Riders.
The album kicks off strongly with ‘it’s
Going To Take Time’ and the opening guitar
riffs from Richard Fortus and bass lines from
Marco Mendoza are just fantastic and as soon as
vocalist Jon Stevens forcefully comes in you just
know that The Dead Daises have all the elements
of a successful rock ‘N’ roll band.
‘Lock ‘N’ Load’ is the
lead single to be taken from the album and it
features a special guest performance from Slash
and as soon as the song opens up with a mouth
watering guitar piece you just know that Slash
is involved but the song is not all about Slash
as when Slash’s solo’s and technical
guitar riffs are not at the forefront of the song
the band manage to keep things up tempo and pleasing
on the ears however Slash really does add greatness
to the song.
‘Washington’ see’s the band
go down a fun psychedelic route where things sound
very upbeat yet extremely retro. ‘Yeah Yeah
Yeah’ is a fun sing-a-long number, whilst
‘Yesterday’ see’s the band go
down the token ballad road which sounds so strong
thanks to Jon Stevens amazing vocal range.
‘Writing On The Wall’ really shows
off the instrumental excellence of The Dead Daises
especially towards the middle of the song when
they really go to down jamming where each and
every member of the band really show off their
skills. ‘Miles In Front Of Me’ is
a big bouncy song with solid loud and clear vocals
from Jon Stevens. ‘Bible Row’ has
the potential to be a future single as the song
is so melodic and extremely radio friendly. Whilst
the album closer ‘Talk To Me’ see’s
the band go down a big catchy heavy route which
leaves you wanting more songs.
With their debut album The Dead Daises have created
an album where three quarters of it has clearly
been wrote with large venues in mind as the majority
of the songs are loud, bouncy sing-a-long anthems
whilst the rest see the band go down a more laid
back yet mature route and it is this slight diversity
which is going to help the band quickly find success.
