Over the past 12 months J-rockers Crossfaith have
been busy touring across the world which has seen
them on the road alongside Bring Me The Horizon,
While She sleeps, Of Mice And Men and many other
bands and during these tours they have managed
to clock up their fan base and due to their explosive
live shows and killer songs the band have just
been announced to play the Kerrang tour 2014 alongside
Limp Bizkit and Nekrogoblikon.
Despite spending most of their time on the road
making a name for themselves Crossfaith have just
released their third studio album ‘Apocalyze’
and my god they have made a beastly album that
is full of chunky riffs, heavy synths and chaotic
vocals which are really going to get the crowd
moving at future live shows.
The album opens with a short space aged sounding
prelude before blasting into the explosive ‘We
Are The Future’ which see’s opens
with vocalist Koie Kenta shouting “Let’s
go” before the band really go mental and
lay everything down in such an energetic way,
from the start the riffs are super charged and
extremely face paced, the drums are constant,
the basslines are huge and when the synths hit
half way through the song you are really in for
a treat as Crossfaith put pretty much everything
into making the next 3-4minutes a big headbanging
enjoyable listen.
‘Hounds Of The Apocalypse’ is easily
one of the heaviest tracks on the album and it
is moments like this that really make you want
to head to the nearest venue that Crossfaith are
playing to see them lay down these hectic sounds
in the flesh as it is safe to say that crossfaith
are a super talented band who surly know how to
write killer tracks whilst also having the crowd
in the palm of their hand from start to finish
as this song really does have the potential to
own the mosh pit at the Kerrang Tour 2014 and
thats a big statement to make considering how
many mosh pit anthems Limp Bizkit are going to
lay down on that tour.
‘Eclipse’ is a song which reminds
me of The Prodigy meets Pendulum meets Innerpartysytem
and is full of big heavy robotic sounding synths
from start to finish with some kick arse guitar
riffs coming and going throughout. ‘Evolution’
is a big aggressive bouncy number and has the
potential of having one hell of a bouncy mosh
pit once the crowd start jumping with pure excitement
during the aggressive sounding chorus.
‘Scarlett’ see’s Crossfaith
go down the serious rock route where everything
is just in your face aggressive, this does not
mean that they have left the synths at home though
as a few synths are thrown in for good measures
but it is the general heavy nature of the song
which makes it so pleasing on the ears and not
to forget the guest vocals from Bianca Roman.
‘Gala Hala (Burn Down That Floor)’
is absolutely bonkers from start to finish as
the band go all out to create as much sound as
possible. ‘Countdown To Hell’ opens
with some great drums beats and after about 20
seconds of solid drumming the song explodes and
quickly becomes a fast paced hectic number, whilst
‘Deathwish’ continues the psychotic
feel but in a more up beat way.
The album closes with ‘Only The Wise Can
Control Our Eyes’, the song is about the
Fukushima nuclear disaster and the song is brutal
from start to finish with machine gun style riffs
going off at random points whilst the band really
do lay down their aggressive sounds with a bit
of melodic vocals thrown in for good measures.
If you liked the likes of Pendulum and Pitchshifter
but at the same time cried out for something slightly
heavier then Crossfaith are here to make your
day as the band remind me of a more in your face
heavier version of the two bands combined, the
release of ‘Apocalyze’ is a huge step
for Crossfaith and I am pretty confident 2014
is going to be a huge year for the band especially
when they embark on their Kerrang Tour journey.
