This year marks the tenth anniversary of the classic
Yellowcard album ‘Ocean Avenue’ and
to celebrate the anniversary of the album Yellowcard
have re-recorded the 13 track album in acoustic
format and are set to release it on the 13th August
on Hopeless Records, this year also marks the
tenth anniversary of the single of the same name
which Yellowcard have just released in acoustic
format.
Now I know the original version of ‘Ocean
Avenue’ went down a storm when it was released
10 years ago but for me this acoustic offering
of the single is so much better and the version
that the fans have been crying out for over the
past few years, the song is very relaxed sounding
whilst Ryan Key’s vocals sound louder, clearer
and stronger than ever before, it is the perfect
summer track for drunken fun on the beach whilst
having a barbecue with a group of friends sat
in a circle around a fire singing their hearts
out to the lovely lyrics Key’s wrote all
those years ago.
Since Yellowcard have returned from their hiatus
they have been on fire releasing two brand new
studio albums and also set to release their second
acoustic album in the matter of years and I personally
can’t wait to hear Ocean Avenue acoustic
in its entirety after falling in love with the
acoustic reworking of the single so much.
