Caro Emerald - The Shocking Miss EmeraldCaro Emerald – The Shocking Miss Emerald

Over the past couple of years Caro Emerald has come from being unheard of to being one of the most talked about female solo acts in the world and there are so many reasons for this first of all Caro Emerald hails from Holland and she has a sound, look and feel which takes us right back to the 50’s which is an era which I am sure the majority of the younger generation would love to visit at the click of a finger if they could.

Caro Emerald released her debut album ‘Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor’ back in 2010 where it spent over 30 weeks at the number one spot in her home country of Holland, in the UK the same success wasn’t met but the album reached the top ten and put Caro Emerald on the map in the UK and since then she has been going from strength to strength in the UK with her music being blasted from radio stations, tv channels and even shop radio stations.

Back on the 5th May Caro Emerald released hero second studio album ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ the album went straight to number one of the UK album charts and a 14 date UK tour for September also sold out within hours proving that Caro Emerald really is on track to becoming an household name over the world.

The album opens with a short retro sounding intro sounding like something from an old classic black and white movie and then goes straight into the upbeat ‘One Day’, the song is perfectly produced and talks about the life of Miss Emerald in such a positive way and finishes with beats sounding like retro computer game sounds.

The first single taken from the album is the Guy Chambers produced ‘Tangled Up’ and it is so easy to see why it was picked as the lead single as from straight to finish the song is a big happy sing-a-long number which is also going to get people shaking their bodies on the dance floor.

At the moment the fantastic ‘Liquid Lunch’ is gracing the airwaves as it is the latest single to be taken from the album and it is a song which pretty much everyone can relate to as let’s face it we have all had a liquid lunch at least once in our lives, musically the song is a big catchy number and as soon as you hear that fast paced chorus for the first time it will be left going around your head for days to come.

The likes of ‘Completely’, ‘Pack Up The Louie’ , ‘Excuse My French’, ‘Paris’, ‘My 2 Cents’ are all a pleasure to listen to and bound to be considered for release as a future single but saying that pretty much every track on the album has the potential to be a future single as Caro Emerald has managed to maintain her stands on ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ by creating an album which is enjoyable from start to finish with no duff moments in place.

It is safe to say that ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ is one of those albums that you could listen to in say 50 years time and it would still sound as good and relevant then as it does now because from the start Caro Emerald has gone down the Imelda May route with her retro look and the big retro sound that is so infectious nothing could possibly make these songs grow tired or age.
