Cheltenham four piece Jim Lockey And The Solemn
Sun are one of the hardest working bands on the
Xtra Mile Recordings roster at the moment as they
are constantly on the road touring, they finished
their own headline tour in February and quickly
jetted off to America to support The Dropkick
Murphys and as soon as that comes to an end they
will be back in the UK for an April headline tour
and to coincide with all this touring they have
just released their new single ‘New Natives’.
‘New Natives’ is taken from the bands
second album ‘Death’ and was released
on St Patricks day when they played The House
Of Blues venue alongside The Dropkick Murphys
and I really couldn’t think of a more appropriate
time for the song to be released as the song is
all about being new in a foreign land, musically
the song is everything you would expect from a
folky punk rock song, as the song gets going it
becomes quite fast and heavy yet it is the catchy
nature of the chorus which instantly makes ‘New
Natives’ a killer track which I understand
is even better when played live.
There has been a lot of hype surrounding Jim Lockey
And The Solemn Sun for some time now and with
the release of ‘New Natives’ it is
so easy to see why.
