Beyond Sevensigns are a young quartet from Stratford
Upon Avon who sound like a cross of Asking Alexandria
mixed with Bullet For My Valentine and it is no
wonder that they sound more like the later of
the two bands due to Padge from Bullet For My
Valentine picking up on the band’s early
demos and asking to be put in charge of production
duties which clearly happened.
The band are set to release their new 5 track
EP ‘Alone To Face The Dead’ on the
25th March and after listening to the EP they
are going to find it hard to fight off the Bullet
For My Valentine comparisons from people but that
is not necessarily a bad thing as it is going
to bring more aware to the band.
The EP opens with ‘Take The Fall’
a song which is full of fast paced metal riffage,
thunderous drum beats, catchy basslines, infectious
vocals and not to forget that little scream which
comes in at the 28second mark and last for a couple
of seconds before the band really go for it unleashing
their Bullet For My Valentine influenced sound,
as the song progresses you can clearly see that
every member of Beyond Sevensigns is a talented
musician and the raw screams and melodic vocals
work well as they battle off.
‘I Am Colossus’ really shows off the
guitar work as Scott Cuckson and Dean Wood go
all out laying down some beastly riffs, vocally
the song features the same style of vocals as
the opening track as the mouthful of gravel style
raw shouts and melodic infectious vocals work
well together, as the song reaches the 3minutes
30seconds mark we are treated to a mouth watering
guitar solo which just earns the band extra kudos.
‘Empty’ is the longest running track
on the EP clocking in at just over the 5minute
mark and it is easy to see why as the track is
quite toned down compared to the rest of the tracks
on the EP and it also takes a lot of time to get
going but as the track progresses well into the
first minute the guitars come at you with a fast
burst of energy as Beyond Sevensigns lay down
yet another perfectly crafted number.
The EP title track ‘Alone To Face The Dead’
is easily one of the strongest tracks on the EP
as the band go all out and lay down a spooky sounding
track due to the vocals which sound deeper and
darker than anywhere else on the EP, with only
the melodic chorus lifting the mood every now
and again.
The EP closes with ‘Darkness Falls Again’
a melodic number which features various different
twists and turns and solos which helps maintain
the solid sound and feel of the EP.
It is safe to say that Beyond Sevensigns are a
name worth remembering as if they continue to
write and record songs as good as what is featured
on this EP then they are going to have a really
healthy future, they already have the backing
of Padge from Bullet For My Valentine and all
they need now is to be invited on tour with them
to see their profile go through the roof.
