‘Diamonds For Stones’ is the debut
mini-album from exciting new four piece Glass
Wing Pilot, the mini album opens with ‘Vultures’
a track which takes you on an extremely infectious
journey, the song has the pace to cause a scene
on the dance floor of rock clubs across the country
and the lead vocals from Flip are executed with
confidence whilst the rest of the band back him
up with a killer set of backing vocals which just
adds to the infectious nature of the song.
‘Ten Years’ opens with a set of squealy
guitar riffs and within seconds you have the feeling
that the song is going to be slightly toned down
from the opening track and then out of know where
mayhem happens as the band give it their all as
they chant their way through the hectic chorus
and also come together instrumentally as they
make a mad flurry of sounds as they jam out in
style with passion.
‘The weight’ is a slight experimental
song as the Glass Wing Pilot start to play games
with their vocals where one minute loud screams
are heard and then the next melodic singing is
gracing the airwaves as the lead and backing vocals
play off each other in an positive way.
‘Learn To Lose’ is a big tub thumper
of a song with a lot of balls, you just need to
listening to the mad opening moments as the bass
and guitars go all out creating amazing sounds,
as the song progresses it features a lot of start
and stops as the bass and guitars go all out on
a fully charged mission before coming to an abrupt
sudden stop whilst waiting a good ten seconds
before going all out again.
‘Smile Of A Lunatic’ once again shows
off the instrumental skills of these guys as they
go all out putting everything into the next 3
or 4minutes as the guitar riffs and basslines
come at you fully charged but they don’t
stick to the same style throughout as Glass Wing
Pilot like to mix things up and put anything and
everything into their music whilst showing off
their amazing talent and huge ambition and this
is exactly what they do and they only tone their
instrumental work for seconds as they shout of
“You make me sick” before jamming
again in a way like they were just laying down
the final notes and beats at a gig.
‘Android’ is a drum driven song as
Sam goes for it with a constant set of drum beats
which run throughout the whole song, vocally the
song is strong with the vocals sound and style
changing like a flick of a switch as the band
literally go full circle laying down nearly every
style of vocals.
The mini album closes with the title track ‘Diamonds
For Stones’ and it happens to be the most
progressive song on the album which also sounds
like they have taken inspiration from Rage Against
The Machine with their guitar work, whilst front
man Flip unleashes his diverse sounding energetic
vocals for the last time.
Glass Wing Pilot are a solid band and if ‘Diamonds
For Stones’ is anything to go by then they
really do have a bright future ahead of them,
let’s just hope they get the chance to support
some decent established bands and push their name
up the ladder of the alternative underground scene.
