"Evolver" was orginally released back in 2003 and was the follow
up to the 2001 album "2000 Years Of Human Error" and has now
been re-released.
The first thing you notice from this album compared to the bands previous
releases is that they have become a much stronger, more mature. Jason
Miller's vocals are awesome and totally shine on this album.
The opening track "The Hate In Me" is an outstanding track;
Miller really shows off his vocal skills. The song is full of heavy guitars,
big drums and is very catchy. The track is also radio friendly and sets
the pace for a stunning album. "Just Like You" makes good use
of acoustic guitars and is a very slow song with a powerful chorus.
"The Giveaway" features Wayne Static from Static-X who really
shines on this track. It sounds so much like the music Static-X are famed
for, mixed with Godhead's, resulting in a very heavy sounding track. "Keep
Me Down" is another radio friendly track and very catchy; the song
rocks.
The album finishes with "Without" which is a great ballad and
features nothing but an acoustic guitar and Miller's vocals; a great finish
to the album.
I have to admit, I wasnt expecting great things from this album but I
am totally surprised. This album is lyrically and musically powerful and
has a good blend of everything. It's pretty heavy but also mellow in places
and very radio friendly as mentioned before. If you didn't get this album
when it was orginally released I'd definitely recommended you getting
it this time around.
4/5
